How to Unlock SIM on Sprint HTC One!

For those of you who want to use your Sprint HTC One as a GSM phone and use it on another GSM network such as AT&T or outside the U.S., there is an easy way to unlock your SIM as outlined by XDA user Thatotherguy.

To do this, you will need a rooted Sprint HTC One.

Step 1. Download and install Terminal Emulator.
Step 2. Open Terminal Emulator and type:

su
am start com.redbend.vdmc/com.htc.omadm.test.TestMainActivity

Step 3. When you get a menu page, select “API”, then select “simlock” near the bottom.
Step 4. Reboot phone and test with a GSM SIM card.
Step 5. Dial *#*#4636#*#* on your dialer and choose “Phone Information” and switch to “GSM/WCDMA Auto”.

You may also have to set APN manually for the carrier you use, see here.

Here’s a YouTube tutorial on it:

I’ve gone through all the right steps on my rooted Sprint HTC One and AT&T SIM card, and yet I still get no signal on any non-CDMA network. It’s like the phone’s never been unlocked in the first place. APN’s have been updates too.

What else could be done? Anyone have any ideas?

In order for this to work you need to be on baseband 1.00.20.0315 only all others didn’t work for me. I am also having to configure the network constantly(every 20 min). Is there a Tmobile rom I can flash on the sprint variant so it wont keep giving me this headache? Or any kind of fix??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, have you tried downloading the T-Mobile ROM from Moonshine.io and flashing it to your phone? I can’t imagine that it would take without a custom kernel, but it would be interesting to know what happens.

que the Super SU updater. It works! Copy it into your internal storage of your phone and then install using the recovery program when rebooted.

Have you tried locking up the bootloader and running the RUU_M7_L50_SENSE60_SPCS_MR_SPRINT_WWE_6.16.651.2_Radio_1.01.20.1225nv_spcs_4.38

Since you’re using sprint. Google ViperROM and click on the XDA forum for the ROM. It’s made by ViperBoy. Download and flash ViperROM version 1.0.4 or lower. 1.1.0 is android 4.4, but 1.0.4 is android 4.2.2. That is what I just tried and it worked.

Trying to use tmobile straight talk sim in unlocked sprint htc one max and have downloaded cyanogen 11 and changed the mobile network to GSM/WCDMA AUTO plus added the tmobile apn settings, still no service, card not recognized, could it be a bad sim card? On bootloader, says TAMPERED and S-ON, no matter what I tried couldn’t get S-OFF, plus don’t think rumrunner worked. And lock screen says invalid sim card, please help, its been about 4 days no phone service!!
