For this week’s ROM of the Week for both HTC One M7 and M8, check out the latest version of CM11 ROM.

Based on latest Android 4.4.4 sources, CM11 ROM brings you some serious performance improvements you can feel right upon installing the ROM.  Google has done a terrific job of updating from Android 4.4.2 to 4.4.3 and also to 4.4.4.

The major update came when Android 4.4.2 was upgrade to Android 4.4.3 as many bugs that have been hindering performance/battery life have been squashed.  Based on my testing with some of my older Android devices, Antutu benchmark performance have improved a whopping 25%!

Well, HTC will eventually released Android 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 but if you want to experience the future today, you can try it “today” with the latest CM11 ROM.  Also, you will find a new theme experience along with latest Google Camera working flawless out of the box.

Overall, CM11 ROM is blazing-fast, probably about 20% faster than any Sense-based ROMs out now (without overclocking) so definitely give the CM11 ROM a test drive this week(end) and do let me know what you think! (At worst, you can just make a backup ROM, try the ROM, and restore!  So simple.)

Download:

Download CM11 ROM for HTC One M7 [original]

Download CM11 ROM for HTC One M8 [2013]

Download Android 4.4.3 Gapps (DO NOT USE OLDER GAPPS!)

IMPORTANT: If you have HTC One M7, you need to be running the latest CWM v6.0.4.8 or TWRP Recovery 2.7.1.0a to install CM11!!!  You can grab the latest CWM/TWRP here and install using Flashify app.

To install, reboot into recovery, make backup ROM, wipe data/factory reset, install ROM, install Gapps, and reboot. (If for some reason you end up in a bootloop, reboot into recovery, go to Advanced Wipe for TWRP or Mounts & Storage for CWM, format/wipe /system, then re-install ROM.)

Tried a later build CM11/cm-11-20140626-NIGHTLY-m7.zip from download.cyanogenmod.org, but no change – endless “process com.android.phone has stopped” messages!

Problem solved. Needed to do a Wipe before installing the CM11 zip file. It seems to work OK now. It’s a pretty bare-bones build compared to what I had before. Not sure it will be satisfactory for my needs. There’s not even a Android app store to re-install my apps.

still shows ““Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped” and now also shows “Clock work mod has stopped” too…

It works great on my M7 but tap and pay is not available for me. Does anyone have a solution or is this just something cm11 doesn’t support?

I installed 4.4.4 on my M8 and it works perfectly, except that, when making calls, the speakerphone function doesn’t work. Does this has happened to someone?

I don’t have 4G/LTE with Sprint anymore. Anyone else have this problem or am I just not finding the proper settings?

Hey max was wondering if updating from the cm updater if it would brick my phone. And that if anyone ride has done this yet? I would like to know the risks of using the updater. Because it says the m10 snapshot for my m7 is available. Thanks in advance for the help.
